Wi-Fi, EMF's, How our love affair with Technology can be heartbreaker.

How EMF'S WIFI and Dirty Electricity can damage the Heart






Have you ever noticed that if you are using your cellphone for more than a few minutes it starts to heat up? How about when using your laptop? ( Which by the by take a guess where the worst place to hold a lap top is? Keep reading to find out!)

In an age of technology nearly everyone in developed countries has at least one piece of gear that is functioning on EMF's or Electro Magnetic Frequencies. In the early development of personal devices we were dependent on wires, cables, and routers to supply and transmit the energy for telephones and computers. However with development of Radio and microwave technology these outlet dependent devices have now become unrestricted. Much of our technology todays runs off of the EMF's conducted and distributed by towers and transmitted through air waves into our computers, laptops, cellphone and smart-devices. In many ways the introduction and development of wireless technology has brought us magnificent abilities in communication and connection as well as blazing the path for groundbreaking technology such as X-ray machines, Photon therapy, and cancer radiation treatment's. However there is a growing concern supplied by mixed reviews on how there EMF's and channeled radio & microwaves waves impact biological health both short and long term. In order to get the best perspective on how these EMF waves effect biology lets look at how the Micro works to get the Macro picture.


Electric Terminology:

Frequency: A measure of how many times the peak of a wave passes a particular point each second. It is measured in Hertz, which also can be written as simply “per second”. The frequency of a wave shows where that particular frequency falls on the overall spectrum.

EMF: (Electro Magnetic Frequency) A type of wave that travels at the speed of light.( As appose to sound waves which are significantly slower) The electromagnetic frequency of a wave is defined as how many times the peak of this oscillation moves past a point each second. Light consists of oscillating electric and magnetic fields.

Radio waves: A specific type of frequency that can be isolated in the electro magnetic spectrum. Band with is another defining term that shows an isolated frequency or several very closely located on the overall electromagnetic spectrum.

Radiation: A natural byproduct of photons that are the electro magnetic spectrum. Radiation is a measurement of how much energy or is being given off by a specific EMF or light frequency . We live in a world of radiation; heat, light. microwaves, X-Rays, the sun, and wireless technology are all forms of radiation. Radiation is often categorized as either ionizing or non-ionizing depending on the energy of the radiated particles.


Two types of Radiation

Ionizing Radiation: Being much more powerful than non-ionizing radiation; Ion Radiation is a form of energy that acts by removing electrons from atoms including air, water and living tissue. It is found in Extremely high Ultra Violet light, gamma rays and X-Rays as well used during some methods of sterilizing food and heat sensitive medical items as it can pernitrate past packaging such as boxes, plastics, and some metals. (According to guidelines ionized treated foods must be labeled as being electronically pasteurized.) Ionizing Radiation has also been proven to cause extreme damage in DNA to the point of fracturing the actual DNA Helix structure. Luckily Ionizing radiation is prohibited in the use of personal technologies and is there for not nearly as common to be accidently exposed too as its more docile counterpart. Think: Short wavelength, High Frequency, and High Energy

Non-Ionizing Radiation: Is a series of energy waves composed of oscillating (up & down) electric and magnetic fields that travel at the speed of light. It is similar to Ionizing Radiation however it is not strong enough to pull and steal ions or pernitrate deeply into surfaces including skin. It can be used as a disinfectant on skin, water, air, and used on hard surfaces as a cleaner. Examples of Non Ionizing Radiation include radio waves, microwaves, visible light, and Extremely low frequency waves (ELF Waves)

Think: Long wavelength, Low Frequency, and Low Energy





Where the Danger Lies

As previously stated the EMF's used in our ever day technological devices functions within radio, microwave, visible light and Extremely Low Frequency waves; all of which emit non-ionizing radiation. Studies have shown that the frequencies used by cellphones fall between radio waves and microwaves and every cellphone model is subjected to testing and approval set by the FCC before mass production. This certainly sounds reassuring except for a few minor details. The FCC testing standard was set in 1996 based on the total heating effects of the EMF used and based on the specific absorption rate (SAR) which measures the amount of radio-frequency energy that gets absorbed by the human body. This test was done using:

  • A mold shaped like a human head and torso is filled with a fluid mixture that is designed to simulate the electrical properties of human tissue.

  • The cell phone under review is placed on the outside of the mold.

  • A probe attached to a computer-controlled mechanical arm is inserted into the mixture at various locations.

  • The phone is made to transmit a signal at full power while the probe is moved through the mixture.



This test is performed for about 6 minutes and the mold of a human head equates out to a 220 lb adult male. According to the FCC guidelines The manufacturer is required to submit the highest SAR level measured during these tests to the FCC. All phones must test below 1.6 W/kg averaged over 1 gram of fluid. As you can see while this test and guidelines may have been effective in 1996, but in our current time of unlimited data, free WIFI, and the emerging language of Emoji does a standard for a different century hold strong in the age of technology?

The answer is no one is quite sure. Because of the drastic integration of technology into our daily lives and a new generation being raised alongside these devices, there has not been enough time to reach a solid conclusion. However more and more data especially those from independent research are deeply questioning the standard safety regulations and there are even nations and such as Canada, Belgium, parts of the U.K, Finland, Germany, New Zealand, and even some U..S states are now taking hefty measures to address potential health risks of cellphones and wireless technology. Independent studies are now gaining traction in a predominantly tech funded field of studies and are calling attention to our wireless web of frequencies, cautioning that these devices and EMF's show signs of having accumulating effects and through long-term exposure (vs. 6 minutes) can be causing some devastating health effects on adults, children, and those not born. According to the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), EMFs are “possibly carcinogenic to humans.” EMF's are indeed categorized as potentially cancer causing. Links to neurological and psychiatrics diseases such as hematolmphopietic cancers in children and adults, Glioma, lower sperm count in men.



So,..... What the Heck does this Have to DO with Heart Health?



First off your heart is the strongest generator and source of electromagnetic energy within the body. Studies of this, such as the intensive research done by Heartmath, have shown that the heart produces an electro field that can extend up to 3 feet outside of the body. This is mostly due to the specialized tissue called cardiac muscle tissue that makes up the heart and ONLY the heart as well as being unique in it function and abilities. This specialized tissue allows the heart to continuously pump without tiring, read and regulate blood pressure, and the cells themselves are capable of creating their own electrical charge that communicate with each other. In fact these cells are so specialized they communicate and function independently of the brains direction. (Basically your heart has its own "brain" directed by the Sinus node and AV node that act as its own pacemaker can direct itself and the rest of the heart....how cool is that?!) These pacemaker cells are what set off the initial spark of electricity that are then passed on through the hearts electrical cells system. As these electrical pulses we commonly know as the heart beat which can be seen and measured on simple machines such as EKG's. This is also why we use electro shocks to reset and revive the heart during cardiac arrest. . Overall the heart produces about -90MV at rest up to 5MV while contracting. Because the heart is relatively strong electro magnetic conductor it is also being effected by these invisible EMF's.


As the airwaves become more trafficked by Radio waves, Micro waves, and EMF's more evidence is also growing in the case that our love for technology is putting massive strain on our heart health. In a 2018 completed study by NTP( National Toxicology Program) concluded that clear evidence of cardiac tumors,( previously a rare tumor), DNA damage and a decline in heart health comparable to aging due to the oxidation of heart tissue under long term exposure to standard EMF's. These studies performed on rats also showed that male rats tend to be more sensitive in thermal accumulation measuring higher body temperatures and that the offspring of an exposed mother tend to have lower bodyweight, weight gains, and overall survival of their children especially within the first few days of birth. Another study done by WESTON A PRICE FOUNDATION was published in 2015 Does Short-term Exposure to Cell Phone Radiation Affect the Blood? "Results show substantial changes in the blood from short-term cell phone radiation exposure in nine out of ten human subjects. RBC aggregation and stickiness were mainly observed following 45 minutes of exposure to a smart phone in receiving mode worn by subjects in a backpack. By contrast, RBC morphological (shape) changes including the formation of echinocytes (spiky cells) were dominant after subjects actively used the phone for an additional 45 minutes. It appears that RBC stickiness with clumping is the first stage of the cell phone radiation effect .Results show substantial changes in the blood from short-term cell phone radiation exposure in nine out of ten human subjects. after exposure of a 55 year old males blood taken by a specialized cameras. The before photo (top) shows his blood before the test and cellphone radiation exposure. The after picture (bottom) shows hos blood after the test, the blood cells seem to become sticky and some even deformed from there disk shaped structure. These Rollo- coin formations can become blockages in arteries and are less efficient at carrying oxygen and nutrition through out the body.







In regards to the heart, blood and circulatory system an increasing pool of evidence is showing potentially damaging effects both directly on the heart in the form of heart palpations and the uptick in heart cancer. It is also well known the oxidization of cells also known as free radicals including cardiac tissue and the blood cells themselves can lead to severe hearth problems. As cardiac disease continues to be the number one cause of death globally scientists are taking a wider view as to why? While there is certainly demand's for more research to be done a published paper by Cardiovascular disease: Time to identify emerging environmental risk factors“, in the European Journal of Preventative Cardiology, pointing out that the increase of human exposure to RF-EMR (radio frequencies) and Public exposures have increased from extremely low natural radiofrequency levels2 below 10−15 W/m2, to above 10−2 W/m2 now. RF-EMR is an environmental pollutant with cytotoxic effects. This is also confirmed by the FDA.







Bottom Line: As we play with an invisible fire, like the frog in boiling water who did not know he was cooked until it was too late.


An Ounce of Prevention Equals a Pound of Cure

Now all this being said, in the average persons life it is next to impossible to escape all technology and very often our tech is a part of how we communicate with family, friends, even our jobs. And while the evidence is clear that our beloved tech is indeed effecting our health, this does not mean that the only change of surviving the invisible spiderweb of radio frequencies is selling off our homes and moving to a tin roof bungalow out in the forest, BUT there are ways to greatly diminish the harmful effects of chronic EMF exposure most are simple and after some practice are easy to implement into a daily routine.


What you can do to reduce EMF exposure Everyday



1. DO NOT sleep with your phone: It is estimated that 51-71% of smartphone users sleep with their phones on or right next to their bed and not shockingly the largest portion of these are teenagers. It is also estimated that 81% of smartphone users check their phone within the hour before bed and upon waking . Unfortunately this can cause daytime disaster especially if you are looking into a screen before bed. The light from the typical smart device is blue light which is similar to the type of light the sun gives off at midday which triggers the suppression of melatonin making it difficult to get quality deep sleep. The radio waves themselves have been reported to cause anxiety and insomnia like effects.

DO put your phone in another room or on the far side if you need the alarm. The good news is that by keeping your phone or smart device 2+ feet away from you body drastically reduces the amount of SAR absorbed into the body.

TURN OFF WIFI At Night: If you have a router box simple unplug it or consider putting it on a timer to turn off while you sleep. This can drastically reduce the total amount of EMF frequencies being conducted into your home. You can use a simple Christmas light timer and set it for 10:00 PM- 5:30 AM

Ladies & Gentlemen DO NOT put cellphones in pocket's or bras: Two areas of the body, the eyes and the testes, are known to be particularly vulnerable to heating by RF energy because of the relative lack of available blood flow to dissipate the excessive heat load. According to Environmental Health Trust, Case Reports are accumulating of young women with no family history getting a diagnosis of breast cancer. The tumors were unusually located directly underneath the skin where they placed their cell phones in their bra.

DO download anything you want to listen to while on a run, at the gym, or just listening to daily. Instead either turn off your phone, put it on a surface area 2+ feet away, or simply pre download your playlist and switch to airplane mode.

DO NOT use a lap top on your lap: Again the increase in infertility in both males and females with a possible cause being chronic exposure to EMF's as well as the increase in testicular cancer and low sperm count....it might just not be worth it. Instead use your laptop on a surface and try to limit screen time to less than an hour. You can get up for a 10 minute walk or better yet going outside in the sunshine.

Keep cellphone calls short, use speaker and keep it at least 1 foot away from you if it is on and you have work to do, an expected call.


Reality: Cellphones are not toys and the testing for our current technological age has yet to be concluded as data is still being collected. Using these devices is essential for most however there are plenty of way to reduce the EMF Radiation given off by smart devices and the WIFI web and reduce harmful effects. If you are experiencing symptoms of anxiety, poor sleep, low mood, or even rashes near an area you may keep your phone close to your skin why not try out some of these tips and see if the effects are relieved.
